“You guys have a tube bender?”

“What size tubes can you bend?”

These are common questions we receive from customers during shop tours, and we understand why. Tube and pipe bending are specialized capabilities that most sheet metal shops outsource. And to be fair, we don’t exactly advertise these capabilities to the same extent as our other metal fabrication services.

But when our customers talk, we listen, and we’ve heard loud and clear that many customers want to know more about pipe and tube bending services at Ameritex.

About Our Pipe and Tube Bending Services

Pipes are round and available in standard sizes for industrial applications. Tubes can be round or square and are typically used for applications requiring tight tolerance fits and finishes.

Common Pipe and Tube Bending Applications

Ameritex regularly bends pipes and tubes for various applications, including:

    • Handrails and other formed pipe weldments
    • Framework for outdoor furniture

Considerations for Tube and Pipe Bending Services

Here are a few considerations to keep in mind regarding materials, sizes, and complexity:

    • Materials. Our tube and pipe bender can bend any material, though we mostly bend aluminum and steel.
    • Sizes. We have the capacity to bend 0.5” to 3.15” diameter tubing and pipe, though the precise diameter we can bend depends on the wall thickness of the material. The thicker the material, the smaller the diameter we can cut (and vice versa).
    • Complexity. Equipped with four servo axes, our machine is capable of bending complex parts. Using our BendPro software, we can program the part offline to check for collisions before parts are cut.

Ameritex Is Your Full-Service Sheet Metal Fabrication Partner

When sheet metal shops don’t offer pipe and tube bending services in-house, they (or their customers) have to outsource these specialized services, which increases costs and lead times.

At Ameritex, we’re committed to being your full-service sheet metal fabrication partner, which is why we’ve worked hard to build dedicated in-house divisions for services like laser cutting, precision machining, and pipe and tube bending.

When you request a quote from our shop, we’ll complete your complex parts and assemblies under one roof, helping you consolidate your supply chain and get higher-quality products.

If you have a product with bent tubing or pipe, reach out. We’ll work with you to finalize the tooling requirements and conduct a Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis to check for potential issues.
